MEBKIKIS, created by Costa Rican designer Ma. Eugenia Brenes, transforms Costa Rican materials and cultural symbols into contemporary design. Its signature material is the fiber of the pejibaye palm, recovered from plantation waste and artisanally transformed into unique pieces. Her research on identity and territory was recognized with the 2011 National Identity Award, and her work has been showcased internationally, including at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Her Alegoría del Café Collection transforms coffee, one of Costa Rica’s most iconic symbols, into a language of memory and culture. Crafted in limited editions, her pieces bring together sustainability, Costa Rican identity, and author-driven design, celebrating the traditions and distinctive character of Costa Rica.
